New students orientation
The new international students’ orientation was a three day event held on August 15-17 at Eastern Kentucky University. The purpose of this orientation was to familiarize new students with campus life, responsibilities, and rules and regulations. Students were primarily given a campus tour by ISA officers and volunteer students to get a feel of the campus and recognize important buildings. They then gathered at the Powell building and were welcomed by the International Office staff where they were informed about immigration regulations, institutional policies, and other useful information. Students were then invited to a nice lunch break held at the Powell building café to eat, refresh, socialize, and meet each other. After lunch, they were scheduled to take their placement tests. The Cultural Adjustment session followed and several guest speakers provided students with useful tips about the American culture, housing, and other areas. The event wrapped up for the day by a volunteer shopping trip to Walmart organized by ISA officers to show the new students their first shopping experience in the United States !!! We are excited and wish everyone luck in their journey ahead.
